Tips for Filmmakers

C L E V E R tips for filmmakers!

Question:
"Do I have to go to film school to make it as a filmmaker?"

Answer:
I didn't go to film school. I went to art school. I got an MFA in
fine arts where i focused on my craft and developed a film making practice that spoke to the black, queer and political worlds that i lived in. It was great being around other artists and thinkers creating their projects and it opened me up to working collaboratively and across different mediums. Most importantly it gave me access to film and video equipment which i had no access to.

Film school? No. But going to art school, a film/art making program, course, or workshop is important. You will find like minds, sort through a ton of ideas to help you firm up the stories that you want to tell and get access to equipment.
